Part of a generation of Russian creatives leading the way in the fashion industry today, Stas Komarovski was born in Moscow though moved to America as a teenager, resulting in an aesthetic that is a perfect combination of Soviet cool and American glamour. Being a self taught photographer allowed him the freedom to realize this unique aesthetic that has a carefree weightlessness to it. Discovering his interest at a young age, leafing through his mom’s magazines and travel books, Stas learned how take photographs by experimenting and assisting some of the biggest names in the industry.
Carrying a camera wherever he goes Stas is continuously capturing his surrounding to an almost dreamlike extent. His images have a cinematic quality to them, be it location or studio Stas has the ability to create an otherworldly quality to his work. An aesthetic that has earned him an impressive roster of editorial work with Vogue, Interview, T Magazine and W. His advertising clients reflect his carefree youthful imagery shooting campaigns for Sacai, Moncler, Coach, & Tommy Hilfiger.
Continuing his curiosity with the visual world, Stas began experimenting with moving image over a year ago, bringing another type of energy and life to his work. The movement has allowed Stas even more intimacy with his subjects and thus creates something pure and authentic. Marrying film and stills has allowed him to investigate a subject fully and bring his vision of the fashion world to life from a uniquely, genuine place.
